SUMMARY:Readings on Faiths: Bright Circle
DESCRIPTION:A Book Group Exploring the Diversity of Religion \n\n\n\nReadings on Faiths Around the World is a book group that reads and discusses books covering the vast diversity of world faiths. Of course\, the standard seven world religions will be included but we will also explore less well-known religious/spiritual groups. The only prerequisite needed for this group is a desire to learn more about the world’s religious traditions. \nOur next book is Bright Circle: Five Remarkable Women in the Age of Transcendentalism\, by Randall Fuller. Bright Circle presents the stories of five extraordinary women who challenged the culture norms of nineteenth-century America and more specifically of New England.  Although all were closely connected through marriage\, family\, or friendship with male transcendentalists only two were actually part of the male dominated group. Yet\, all five\, in their own way\, wrote\, discussed\, and participated in transcendentalist’s ideas and experiments. Several of the women were involved in the abolitionist movement (before many of the men); some were active in the establishment of communal living experiments; and of course\, the many were active in the Women’s Rights Movement. \n\nLEARN MORE & ENROLL

SUMMARY:Buddhist Process Explorations: Dōgen and Whitehead
DESCRIPTION:A Six-Session Conversation on Zen and Process Philosophy \nToday\, many spiritual seekers are drawn to the writings of the thirteenth-century Zen master Dōgen. Rooted in the Sōtō Zen tradition\, Dōgen’s reflections on time\, awakening\, body and mind\, compassion\, nature\, and everyday practice inspire readers across religious and philosophical traditions. They are especially drawn to his emphasis on zazen\, or Zen meditation\, as an anchor for awakening in everyday life and for living in the world with wisdom and compassion. \nMany seekers are also drawn to the process philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead. His philosophy offers a vision of lived experience as consisting of moments in which the many of the universe become one in the immediacy of experience itself; an understanding that all moments are “present in” others even as they remain discrete; and a portrayal of the universe as a vast network of interdependent becomings\, each possessing value and worthy of respect and care. These seekers sense that there is something “Buddhist” about Whitehead’s thought and perhaps also something “Whiteheadian” about Dōgen’s Zen. \nThis series brings these two visions into conversation. Using The Essential Dōgen(opens in new tab)\, edited by Kazuaki Tanahashi and Peter Levitt\, each of the six online sessions will feature a selected passage from the book\, a Whiteheadian commentary by Jay McDaniel\, a response from Sōtō Zen priest Shōryū Bradley\, and open discussion among all participants. \n\n  \nLEARN MORE & ENROLL

SUMMARY:Christian Process Explorations
DESCRIPTION:A Discussion Group About the Exploring\, Sharing\, and Practice of Christian Process-Relational Theology \n\n\n\nThis learning circle focuses on the exploring\, sharing\, and practice of Christian process-relational theology\, as relevant to all age groups: children\, teenagers\, adults\, senior citizens. We meet monthly to discuss process-relational ideas and practices in local settings like churches\, religious education\, hospitals\, and recovery groups. Together we explore how to share those ideas\, as well as how to embody their wisdom in daily life situations. This is co-sponsored by the P&F Christian Path Group. \n  \nLEARN MORE & ENROLL
