Music and Chants
Song: All Things Change Artist: Kan'Nal Album: Dreamwalker
This song is about how nothing stays the same. It is constant motion and new things arise out of the old.
"I’m on the verge of something, bigger than I know.
All things change. No one’s ever gonna stay the same.
We are the verge of something bigger than we know.
Something that will rise above the ashes of the old.
None of you are gonna ever stay the same."
FAUN - Walpurgisnacht
HOLLOW by Wendy Rule
From the album Persephone, this is a song about loss. Alfred North Whitehead spoke about death and perpetual perishing. Life is change and with change comes loss.
"Grief is mine and I am hollow. The field was ripe but now is fallow."
SKÁLD
Rún
From an Old Norse poem which survives as a handful of stanzas in Hyndluljóð, in the Poetic Edda, and as one stanza in the Gylfaginning. The old stories tell our history, they are prehensions and when we sing the lyrics, we bring them to life again.
All the witches
spring from Witolf,
All the warlocks
are of Willharm,
And the spell-bearers
spring from Swarthead;
All the ogres
of Ymir come.
Wardruna, Aurora and Oslo Fagottkor: "HELVEGEN"
This Norwegian song reminds us that though we may die, we are held in the "all" that ever was. We are held in the memory of the world along with all that has ever been.
"Cattle die,
Friends die,
So, too, must you die.
Though one thing
Never dies;
The fair fame one has earned."
Wardruna - Kvitravn (White Raven)
We receive the "lure", the "invitation", the "Awen." When we are inspired, we can turn a signal feather into wings and take flight.
"Into twilight
Lure you in
White raven
Veiled and dwelling
Let me ask!
Lend me a feather
I will turn it into white wings"
OMNIA - Fee Ra Huri
Pure novelty
Wack fol'a day diddle dee dye doe
Je le len 'o je le la le len 'o
Fiddle daddle day diddle dee dye doe
Ho de fee ra huri
Wack fol'a day diddle dee dye doe
Je le len 'o je le la le len 'o
Fiddle daddle day diddle dee dye doe
Ho de fee ra huri
Heilung
It's a relational world and all are affected by war. War leads to downfall for all. No one really wins a war.
"If I want to talk about peace and understanding
But you only understand the language of the sword
What if I want to make you understand that the path you chose leads to downfall"
Omnia - Morrigan
Where swords they clash and chariots rattle
Seeking out the one whose time
Has come to take the blade
I see your face, I'll cry no more
Morrigan ancient crone of war
Come lift me on your wings".
