Welcome to the course!

We'll meet weekly on Zoom, and will have discussion there, but we also invite you to post your questions and comments here. This is the course community area, and some people won't be able to participate in course sessions live, so feel free to engage in discussion here too.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts about this interesting content!

Just wanted to add to the "snake" symbolism. It was also a symbol of fertility and life giving power in certain goddess circles. https://www.bibleodyssey.org/en/people/related-articles/goddess-in-the-garden

I couldn't find any really good links - and do not remember where/when I was told this - but I was in

my staunchest feminist phase. It did not help me get over my fear of snakes however. LOL  I am enjoying the class immensely. I hope to begin work on a D. Min. in the fall of 2023 - focusing on theology from the perspective of survivors of trauma. See you again next week!

Yes! That's a great point to add to the discussion. And thanks for the link!

Sounds like you have great plans for your DMin. Sounds like a great topic.

Thanks for participating in the forum.

The phrase "Universal God Identity" begs the question of a non-universal God.  A private God.  I know there is a Republican God, but quite an unwholesome fellow he is.

@neale Hmmm, I don't think I'm tracking with what you're saying. The term "universal God identity" is referring to something within humans, not to the divine itself. Maybe you need to say more?

"THE BIBLICAL NARRATIVE AND UNIVERSAL GOD IDENTITY" is the descriptor for this forum.  Is there still a Zoom discussion?

     My prior comment was an aside, but could be taken as a query based on OT comments by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob regarding what we refer to as the ONE AND ONLY.  viz,  this quote from Psalm 82:1...

God has taken his place in the divine council;
in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:

This came up in another discussion I had, not within P&F, but it is provocative ,,,
