Dance as child development

So good to see you all tonight! One of the things that most jumped out at me about Shruthi's presentation was the notion of dance as child development. Not only as physical development--coordination, endurance, precision, etc.--but emotional development. I can imagine starting dance as a young child and learning how emotions are felt, shown, displayed, released, transformed, etc. And I can imagine this leading to a healthy emotional literacy, especially as these children grow into their teenage years. Mastery of emotions is a challenge for most everyone, and to have a space (almost like theater) to practice, perform, and embody these emotions would be such a gift.
