Theme: An Economy of Trust
A Note to Parents
The Season of Lent is a time for looking at ourselves and preparing for change – for personal and collective transformation. Moving with our theme, we will focus during adventure time on TRUST; what it is, what it looks like as we experience it in the world, and how we make ourselves trustworthy. We will look at stories from the Bible and utilize stories from our children’s literature collection.
The Lenten Reflection Packet contains music, daily scripture readings and activities that you can use to engage your children during this season.
The Lenten Calendar is based on the concept of a Trust Walk, a game in which one person is blindfolded and then led along a path by another person. The one who wears the blindfold must trust that the leader will not bring them to any harm. Included with the calendar are footprint stickers that can be used to mark of the days. [Calendar 1] [Calendar 2] [Stickers]
Pretzels have long been connected with Lent, and included is a recipe you might try.
There are guide sheets that encourage your children to create prayers for creation, themselves, their families and friends, their community, and people in need everywhere. [Ash Wednesday] [Prayer 1] [Prayer 2][Prayer 3] [Prayer 4] [Prayer 5]
And there are some games and puzzles. [Crossword] [Sudoku] [Word Find] [Answer sheet]
Lent is a solemn time, but I hope that you have fun with these materials.
